Online Auctions = Fun and Profits

Auctions can be enjoyable and highly profitable for the
watchful eye. Many items that are perhaps extremely rare
due to small production runs or other limitations can be
picked up for next to nothing if there is little
competition.

Whether you're buying for personal use or acquiring
products for resale online or off, auctions represent a
massive opportunity. There are regular, ordinary people
actually making millions of dollars buying and selling
through regular auctions or the online variety, and
sometimes using a combination of both. Buy cheaply in one
venue and sell at a premium in the other. It's absolutely
brilliant!

With online auctions going on worldwide, 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, the opportunities are virtually
infinite. And so are the possible savings. Whether you're
interested in antiques and collectibles or brand-new items
that have never been opened (often with original
warranties), you'll find amazing bargains every day.

When buying or selling on these types of sites it is
important to set limits for yourself. This will help you
keep from either spending too much money on an item or
cheating yourself out of a lot of money on an item you are
selling. When selling an item you can set a minimum bid
that must be reached in order for the item to be sold.

This is known as a reserve. When a reserve is not met the
item will not be sold. When buying an item it is possible
to set the site up to where it will continue to bid on an
item as long as you want it to. The way this is done is by
setting a maximum amount that it can bid and as soon as it
reaches this number it will stop bidding on that particular
item.

You always have the option to adjust your bid right up
until the end of the online auction. Or you can turn off
the automatic feature and return to manually bidding. There
is a lot of flexibility in the system, so you are always in
control.

If you're new to online auctions and need help setting a
reserve or determining a reasonable bid, do a bit of
comparison shopping to see how similar items are doing on
the auction site.

When dealing with high-priced items, you might want have
them professionally appraised before offering them. When
you're looking to buy something expensive, comparison
shopping is a must. Don't be intimidated. Start slowly, use
the tools and information the site offers, and you're sure
to enjoy both fun AND profit!
